It's been almost a year since we started offering "Started Standard Poodle Puppies", and I must say, it's been a huge success! We've sent home quite a few started puppies, and the feedback we've gotten has been fantastic. Potty training (more like readjustment to their new home) goes very quickly, and all the puppies have adjusted fine to sleeping on the bed (yes we kennel train, but apparently it's not as needed as I thought! ha ha). Truly though, it's been a lot of fun for us, and a great fit to the families our puppies have gone home to.
A quick recap, started puppies are older puppies who are older, have finished their vaccinations, are using the doggy door to do their business outside, sleeping through the night in their kennel, finished with their vaccinations, not jumping for attention, sitting when told, and have been introduced to walking on a leash nicely. All of these behaviors aren't totally cemented, but they are started and it gives the family a great foundation to work from.
Additionally, you can choose to have us take care of your started puppy's spay or neuter before they come home to you. There is an additional charge for this but with the spay or neuter complete, and recovery done you'll really be ready to hit the ground running with your new family member!
We have several started puppies who will be ready to go home the first week of December. I wanted to highlight them for you in this blog :-). Since I decided to write this blog, we've had two puppies reserved! Both Simon and Trenton were reserved this past week (they're not featured here since they've been reserved). If you see a puppy below you like don't delay in writing me about him/her! You don't want to miss out!
First up, is Sullivan. Sullivan is a stunning silver boy from our Dutchess/Oreo litter. His bday is 1/31/24, so he is almost a year old! Sullivan is a very sweet boy who can't get close enough to us. If he is standing next to us, he is leaning into us. I expect Sullivan will mature to be about 50-55 pounds.
Next we have Sullivan's sister, Sierra. Sierra is laid back, easy to walk, steady in new environments, and great with the kids! I can't have favorites, but if no one claims her soon I'll be happy to keep her and add her to our program! Sierra is black right now, but I see some grey hairs on her ears, so I'm wondering if she will lighten to grey she she gets older. To see Sierra on an outing to Lowes check out this video from our IG page! https://www.instagram.com/reel/DCNU2BxytJ6/?igsh=NmhndzNkdW0wNWJo
Amarillo is an exceptionally special girl. She is just over a year old, her birthday is 10/9/23. For a little family history, Amarillo's grandpa on her dad's side is a mini poodle. Dogs don't take an even number of size genes from both sides of their family tree, and Amarillo has apparently taken most of her's from this side of the family. She is a petite girl at about 30ish pounds, and I'm pretty sure she is full grown. She is an exuberant little thing, full of energy, curiosity, food drive, and she is very eager to please! She works HARD for a treat (many poodles don't!), she is easy to teach new behaviors to. She is almost always moving. She will take a break for a belly rub though. I think Amarillo would do best in a very active family, or a family who has another dog that she can play with. She will want to be learning new things, and exploring new places. If you think you know of the perfect home for her please reach out. I really want her to have her own family by Christmas. :-D She is such a doll! I'm pretty sure Amarillo is sable, so she is continuing to lighten as she gets older.
You can see a couple vides of her here
Lastly, we have several apricot boys available! Here I'm highlighting Lordy Tennyson and William Blake (this is the poetry litter!). These boys have so much presence, and class! The entire litter does! There is also ONE girl in this litter! They can go home started or as is. As is for them is using the doggy door to do their business outside, and finished with vaccinations! Their birthday is 6/11/24. Their daddy Barron is cream, and their mama Cherry is dark red. The puppies started out red and are lighting as they age. They're truly stunning.
